During the visit O.Klymenko met with EU Commissioner for Taxation, Customs, Audit, Anti-Fraud issues A.Šemeta. The parties discussed enhancing cooperation to combat tax evasion and efforts to combat offshore zones.

O.Klymenko and A. Šemeta also talked about current issues in the administration of excise duties, VAT return and improving the business climate, particularly in the context of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

The Minister informed the meeting proceeds and the European side of the Ukrainian Government initiative aimed at creating fair conditions for entrepreneurship and stressed the importance of establishing a mechanism for closer cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the field of taxation.

During his visit to Brussels, Ukrainian Minister also met with the General Director of the European Office of the Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), G.Kessler.

Special attention was paid during the meeting to combating trafficking of excisable goods and the fight against smuggling.

O.Klymenko and D.Kessler signed the agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of revnue and duties of Ukraine and the OLAF aimed at combating  illicit transfer of tobacco products.

During the visit O.Klymenko made a presentation on tax and customs policy of Ukraine at the Brussels Press Club.
