Fourth Conference of Mayors on sustainable development and energy efficiency started in Brussels.

Conference of Mayors participating countries so-called "Covenant of mayors of East and West" held at the European Parliament in the framework of the European Week "Sustainable Energy" - one of the flagship initiatives of the Committee of the Regions on the sustainable development of Europe in 2020.

This year's conference is the fourth consecutive event since the signing in 2010 of the Agreement, amoung the participants: mayors, representatives of regional and local administrations, local authorities of European countries. Among the honored guests of the Conference - President Barroso, President of the EU Committee of the Regions V.Siso, EU Commissioner for Energy H.Oettinher, former California Governor A. Schwarzenegger. Forum aims to summarize four-existence of "pact" to discuss the practical elements of economic growth through energy efficiency, the development of "green energy" and encourage job creation.

Conference of Mayors is an effective "non-political" platform for cooperation of partners in various areas of sectoral cooperation and the establishment of direct contacts vis-à-vis the European regions and cities.
