Within the framework of his working visit to Luxembourg to attend the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting, Minister for Foreign affairs Pavlo Klimkin met with Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain José Manuel García-Margallo.
The parties discussed the importance of increase of Schengen long-term multi-visa issuing for Ukraine citizens, as well as the use of existing potential of the EU-Ukraine Enhanced Visa Facilitation Agreement, which could further contribute to the tourist and business climate improvement between the two States. The possible representation by the Spain of certain Latin America countries’ consular offices in Ukraine was also discussed.
The particular attention was paid to the issue of forthcoming signing of the Common aviation area agreement between Ukraine and EU. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister expressed his hope for the prompt completion of all internal EU procedures that will enable the signature of this document in the nearest future. He asked Spanish colleague to assist in facilitation of this process.
The parties agreed to organize the visit of leading Spanish business representatives to Ukraine.
The Spanish side assured Ukraine of its support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, empathizing that it will never recognize the illegal annexation of Crimean Peninsula by the Russian Federation.
They also discussed the activity of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission and other international organizations, which monitor the security situation in Ukraine.
