Ambassador of Ukraine to the EU Konstiantyn Yelisieiev welcomed the decision of the Council of 18 December 2014 regarding the introduction of additional sanctions on investment, services and trade with Crimea and Sevastopol that reinforce the EU policy of non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia. The sanctions will take effect on 20 December.
This decision was the result of intensive consultations between Ukraine and the European Union in the context of responding to Russia’s flagrant violation of the norms and principles of international law.
"Sanctions approved by the EU are a clear signal that the Autonomous Republic of Crimea has prospects for growth and prosperity only as part of a sovereign and territorially integral Ukrainian state," emphasized K. Yelisieiev.
