In connection with today’s attack of the militants on the city of Mariupol Representative of Ukraine to the EU K.Yelisieiev urged the EU in the relevant demarche addressed to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy F.Mogherini to make a strong assessment of the further deterioration of the situation in eastern Ukraine, which is taking place on the backdrop of militants’ actual refusal to implement the Minsk agreements.
“This terrorist act has become another crime against humanity in spiral of tragic events of the recent weeks, along with the deaths of dozens of civilians in Donetsk and near Volnovakha. What happened today is a clear proof of the need for the recognition of the so-called “DPR” and “LPR” as terrorist organizations,” said K.Yelisieiev.
"It is high time to combine the efforts of the international community, including the EU, to stop these terrorist acts. We call upon the European Union to convene an extraordinary meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council and to take decisive preventive measures in accordance with the provisions of numerous Conclusions of the EU Council.”
Representative of Ukraine to the EU K.Yelisieiev sent a similar appeal to the leadership of the European Parliament to convene an extraordinary meeting of the EP Committee on Foreign Affairs.
