Ukrainian authorities at the Ukraine-EU Summit and International Support for Ukraine Conference managed to consolidate external support of the leading states, said the Representative of Ukraine to the EU Kostiantyn Yelisieiev on Ukrainian Channel 5.

"One of the achievements of the Summit –is that after multi-week discussions the EU acknowledged that Ukraine is in the forefront of the struggle for European values. I am saying this quite responsibly, as a person who prepared the text of the joint statement from the first letter to the last point - it was the whole detective story : it was really tough, even brutal debate around some of the provisions of this statement, "- said Mr.Yelisieiev on Tuesday night. According to him, the document contains a number of breakthrough provisions.

"The fact that in the bilateral official document on the results of the Summit the EU acknowledged the aggression of the Russian armed forces ... The fact that the EU urged to withdraw Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine .... that the EU clearly recognized the need to release all political prisoners, tying it to the implementation of the Minsk agreements, that the EU clearly emphasized the need to respect the rights of national minorities, including Tatars in Crimea - I think these are the important achievements, which should not be detracted "- says Mr. Yelisieiev.

As another achievement diplomat called the agreement on sending the EU mission to Ukraine to assess the needs for the effective implementation of the Minsk agreements.
