President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker.
Petro Poroshenko and Jean-Claude Juncker expressed common concern over the escalation in Donbas and condemned militants’ shelling of civilians near Mariupol.
The parties discussed ways to ensure the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements by Russia.
The Head of State informed that pursuant to the decisions of the Ukraine-EU Summit held in Kyiv in April, Ukraine conveyed the final report on the fulfillment of the recommendations of the Plan of Actions on the liberalization of the visa regime with the EU for the Ukrainian citizens to the European Commission on August 17. Now, Ukraine expects positive recommendation on the establishment of the visa-free regime.
In return, Jean-Claude Juncker assured that the European Commission will fulfill its part of obligations and submit respective recommendations for consideration by the EU states by December 15 on the basis of the progress achieved by Ukraine.
The parties also praised positive dynamics in the process of ratification of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement and confirmed willingness to start the implementation of DCFTA from January 1, 2016.
Petro Poroshenko and Jean-Claude Juncker agreed to hold a meeting shortly.
