On the 7th of October in Brussels the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine signed a technical agreement with the Ministry of the National Defence of the Republic of Lithuania regarding the participation of the representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Lithuanian National Support Element of the EU Battle Group (EU BG), which should be in a state of readiness in the second half of the 2016.
The technical agreement was signed by the Lithuanian Military Representative to NATO and the EU Brigadier General Gintautas Zenkevičius and the Defence Advisor of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU Serhii Rechych on behalf of the Ministries of the two states. The aim of this document is to reach an agreement, to define general obligations, principles and procedures of the contribution of Ukraine to the EU BG under the guidance of the Great Britain. Continuing involvement in the operational presence of Ukraine in the EU BG has a great value for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, first of all from the point of view of the development of operational capacities, achievement of better military standards and maintenance of the cooperation with armies of other states in the context of crisis management activities.
