I.Klympush-Tsintsadze: Additional EU trade preferences - an important political gesture and practical assistance to the economy of Ukraine

During the visit to Brussels the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euroatlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze held a meeting with the Commissioner for ENP & Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and EU Commissioner for trade Cecilia Malmström.

On the meeting with Commissioner J.Hahn Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine discussed all complex of the topical issues of Ukraine-EU relations and the implementation of reforms in the sphere of eurointegration. The Ukrainian side presented the results of the first phase of the introduction of electronic declaration.

The EU Commissioner was delighted to acknowledge that the process of electronic declaration was completed on time in Ukraine, he also pointed out that the EU is ready to consider budget assistance for the implementation of public administration reform, anticorruption reform and to support the efforts of Ukraine in managing the migration processes.

Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze commended the European side for the Report on the first 18 months of the activity released by the Ukraine support group. «I am happy that real achievements in reforms, which we managed to accomplish, also with the EU support, were presented in the report».

One of the key topics of the meeting was the discussion on the ways of completion of the ratification of Ukraine-EU Association agreement. The Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine underlined the importance of the active cooperation between the EU institutions, the Dutch government and Ukraine for the mutually beneficial solution within the context.

The sides also addressed the issue of visa liberalization. I.Klympush-Tsintsadze emphasized the fulfillment of all the criteria of VLAP by Ukraine, and stressed the importance of the completion of the EU internal procedures for a prompt introduction of visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens.

A preparation for Ukraine-EU summit which will take place in Brussels on November 24 was also discussed.

The meeting with the EU Commissioner for trade Cecilia Malmström was devoted to the state of the implementation of the DCFTA between Ukraine and the EU as well as to the implementation of the relevant reforms by Ukrainian government. I.Klympush-Tsintsadze commended Cecilia Malmström for the package of measures of trade support for Ukraine from the European Commission, the key element of which is a proposal on additional trade preferences for Ukraine.

"This is an important gesture of political and practical assistance for the economy of Ukraine, which shows the potential benefits of DCFTA between Ukraine and the EU and encourages our producers to diversify the export markets", - said Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine.

The parties also discussed the cooperation of Ukraine and the EU in combating economic aggression of Russia.
