President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a phone conversation with President of the European Council Donald Tusk to coordinate positions on the eve of the G7 Summit that will take place on May 26-27, 2017.

The Head of State informed the President of the European Council on the situation in Donbas and the ongoing violation of the Minsk agreements by Russia. “In such conditions, there are no reasons to abolish or mitigate economic and sectoral sanctions of the EU against Russia,” the President of Ukraine noted. According to him, this should be the basis of the decisions of the leaders of G7 and the European Council as regards continuation of sanctions against Russia after July 31, 2017.

The leaders praised the final approval and publication of the EU decision on the visa waiver for Ukrainian citizens and expect the beginning of the visa-free regime on June 11, 2017.

The Presidents discussed ratification of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement by the Dutch Senate and expressed hope that the Agreement will enter into force shortly.

The parties agreed to hold the regular Ukraine-EU Summit on July 13, 2017 in Kyiv.
