On September 20, Oleksandr Danyliuk, Minister of Finance of Ukraine, paid a working visit to Brussels.
In the framework of the visit, the Minister met with the Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis.
The parties discussed progress in implementing the conditions for providing the EU macrofinancial assistance to Ukraine and agreed that the successful implementation of the regarded conditions requires coordinated work of all ministries and institutions, including the support of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. According to the Memorandum of Understanding between Ukraine and the EU, the tranche is estimated at 600.0 million euros.
Valdis Dombrovskis expressed his support for Ukraine on the road to European integration and stressed the need for the prompt implementation of key reforms planned by the Government.
Oleksandr Danyliuk also met with the Minister of Finance of Belgium Johan Van Overtveldt. The parties discussed the introduction of amendments to the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium on avoiding double taxation and preventing tax evasion.
The ministers as well discussed the course of the reform of the State fiscal service in Ukraine. Particular attention was paid to the work of the register of automatic refund of VAT.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on the support of the Belgian side in implementing Ukraine’s reform of State Fiscal Service and further improving the work of the automatic VAT refund register.
During his visit O.Danyliuk spoke at the event "Ukraine: On the right path?" together with the Managing Director of the EBRD Francis Malige and the Deputy Director General of the European Commission for ENP and Enlargement negotiations K.Mathernova.
