Ukraine expresses readiness to prolong work with institutions and member states of the European Union on an ambitious and far-reaching Joint Declaration of the Eastern Partnership. This was stated by Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze during a meeting with the European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.
In the context of preparations for the Eastern Partnership Summit on November 24, the Vice Prime Minister stressed on the relevance of the proposals to the Joint Declaration of the Summit prepared jointly by Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia. The Ukrainian side highlighted the importance of recognizing and taking into account in the Joint Declaration of European aspirations, in line with the proposals of Ukraine to the aforementioned draft declaration. Commissioner Johannes Hahn welcomed the recently adopted decisions of the Ukrainian Government aimed at intensifying by Ukraine of the commitments under the Association Agreement, in particular, a detailed Action Plan. He noted that attention should now be paid to strengthening cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada to ensure the rapid and efficient implementation of the "Eurointegration" laws to secure implementation of the Plan and approval of the relevant Roadmap. The parties also discussed specific issues of reforms in Ukraine, in particular, the realization of anti-corruption legislation and the functioning of the relevant institutions, a judicial reform and the prospects for the establishment of an Anti-corruption court next year.
As part of the education debate, present at the meeting Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Lilia Hrynevych emphasized on Ukraine's position aimed to guarantee equal access to learning the national language as an integral element of ensuring the right to education. The interlocutors also focused on educational programs for Ukraine, in particular, regarding the possibility of increasing country's access to educational programs and projects within the framework of Erasmus +.
The parties agreed to conduct a more detailed discussion of joint actions aimed at the proper implementation of the Action Plan on the implementation of the Association Agreement, adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers on October 25, during the visit of the Commissioner Johannes Hahn to Ukraine next week.
