March 19, Pavlo Klimkin took part in the event of the European Policy Center in Brussels "Building a secure and resilient Ukraine: progress and challenges". The key speakers as well include former Secretary General of NATO, Head of the "Rasmussen Global" Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament David McAllister.
Speaking on the panel discussion, the Minister stressed that Ukraine continues the eurointegration transformation and complex reforming of the country against the background of hybrid aggression of the Russian Federation. According to P.Klimkin, recent events in the UK are an alarming bell for the civilized world - Russia won’t stop and it is already carrying out brutal chemical attacks in Europe, so there is a need for doubling the efforts to build a safe environment in the EU and neighboring countries.
"We often hear that Putin has crossed one or another"red line". But there are no more “red lines” for Russia. Forget about this. Russia has begun an unconventional but already real war against democratic institutions and the civilized world. We need the coordinated response to these threats, "said P.Klimkin.
On the fourth anniversary of the illegal occupation of Crimea, the Ukrainian side is counting on strengthening of the sanctions pressure on Russia from the European Union, because of Russia’s non-fulfillment of the Minsk agreements and the brutal violations of human rights in the occupied peninsula and eastern Ukraine. In this regard, Ukraine also calls not to recognize the illegal elections of the President of the Russian Federation, which took place in the Crimea.
The event at the European Policy Center in Brussels took place on the day of EU Foreign affairs council meeting, where Ukrainian issue was on the agenda.
