On 18 February 2019, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin will pay a working visit to Brussels to take part in the foreign ministers meeting in the format “Ukraine + Friends of Ukraine in the EU” organized on the initiative of Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark Anders Samuelsen.

The meeting will be held ahead of the discussion on Ukraine at the EU Foreign Affairs Council on February 18.

The informal discussion among the foreign ministers in the format “Ukraine + Friends of Ukraine in the EU” is aimed at setting up the framework for a comprehensive discussion on Ukraine at the EU Foreign Affairs Council with a view to consolidate international support in strengthening sanctions pressure on Russia in order to liberate Ukrainian sailors and political prisoners, restore the freedom of navigation in the Azov Sea area and halt Russian military aggression against Ukraine.

Foreign Ministers will also discuss EU support for the Azov region, Ukraine's progress in implementation of key reforms and further joint efforts to protect elections integrity in the EU and Ukraine in 2019.
