On 5 March 2019, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for the European Integration Olena Zerkal will take part at the roundtable “The Stockholm arbitration and the future of gas transit through Europe” at the European Policy Centre in Brussels.
The decisions of the Stockholm arbitration, adopted in December 2017 and February 2018, have changed the energy map of Europe. NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" has passed a unique way of protecting Ukraine's energy security from aggression and blackmailing of the largest gas monopolist of the Russian Federation. These decisions will undoubtedly determine the legal parameters of the contracts on the supply and transit of gas in Europe for the immediate and medium-term prospects.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Carl Bildt, leadership of NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, European Commission Directorate-General for Energy, representatives of the Support Group for Ukraine in the European Commission, Energy Community, U.S. Department of State and key energy experts will also take part at the roundtable and expert discussion.
The agenda of the discussion will comprise of the results and consequences of the abovementioned arbitration decisions and prospects of using Ukrainian gas transmission system after 2019 against the backdrop of lack of will from the Russian side for a substantive dialogue within the framework of the Ukraine-EU-Russia trilateral process.
