On 14 October 2019, on the sidelines of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko met with candidate for EU High Representative for foreign affairs and security policy Josep Borrell.
Josep Borrell reiterated a consistent approach of the EU on sanctions towards Russia aimed at the full implementation of the Minsk agreement and restoration of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In his turn, Vadym Prystaiko stressed the necessity for further active EU involvement into the process of stabilization of the situation in eastern Ukraine and briefed Josep Borrell on the preparations for the Normandy format summit at the level of heads of state and government.
The Minister also expressed his gratitude to Josep Borrell for his clear stance on Russian aggression against Ukraine and restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, expressed by the candidate for EU High Representative for foreign affairs and security policy on October 7 at the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee at the parliamentary hearings.
The parties also discussed current dialog in the Ukraine-EU bilateral relations and priorities within the key reforms in Ukraine.
“The EU is a key trade partner for Ukraine, what is especially important under ongoing Russian aggression. We are determined to continue active implementation of internal reforms and we appreciate the EU support on this path”, - underlined Vadym Prystaiko.
