Mykola Tochytskyi took part in a videoconference dedicated to further development of Eastern Partnership

The Eastern Partnership (EaP) remains a vivid topic on the EU and EaP partner countries’ agenda even despite the COVID19. Today’s videoconference between Ambassadors of Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Armenia and Azerbaijan as well as the EU institution undoubtedly confirmed our mutual interest in developing further Eastern Partnership cooperation.
We exchanged our views on Joint Communication “Eastern Partnership policy beyond 2020”, pointing out its comprehensive sectorial part that contains a number of initiatives proposed by the Partners. Ukraine together with Georgia and Moldova called-on the EU to work further together towards deepening of sectoral cooperation between EU and Associated Partners.
Complex of security issues (cyber, for example) did not disappear from the dialogue between EaP countries and the EU.
European aspiration and European choice of the respective Partners as well as strong support of the EU of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Partners should also remain indispensable elements of all EaP-related documents.
The EU confirmed its intension to hold the 6th Eastern Partnership Summit on 18 June 2020 in Brussels and updated on its preparations.
Challenges arising from spread of Coronavirus COVID-19 were also on our agenda. In times when almost every country feels the implications of COVID-19, every kind of support counts. We appreciate efforts of the European Commission to elaborate the immediate measures to support societies and business in Eastern Partnership countries suffering from consequences of COVID-19.
