A trilateral meeting took place in Dublin following the opening ceremony of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, bringing together President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of the European Council António Costa, and Taoiseach of Ireland Micheál Martin.

The Head of State congratulated Ireland on the start of its Presidency of the Council of the EU and noted that Ukraine expects real progress in accession negotiations during these six months.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, following the opening of the first cluster, it is important to open the remaining five negotiation clusters for Ukraine and Moldova as quickly as possible and in parallel.

The parties discussed the steps needed to ensure the swiftest possible progress of Ukraine towards full membership of the European Union.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, António Costa, and Micheál Martin also discussed other priorities of the Ukrainian agenda during Ireland’s Presidency. Among the key points are further support for Ukraine and strengthening sanctions pressure on Russia.

In addition, the parties aligned their positions on cooperation with partners and agreed on the schedule for their upcoming personal meetings.
