President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of the European Council António Costa.
The Head of State thanked the President of the European Council for congratulating Ukraine on the 35th anniversary of the restoration of its independence and for coming to Kyiv on this important day.
“I am very grateful to you, Mr. President, for being here with us, with Ukraine, for supporting us from the very beginning, and we are counting on this support. And thank you very much for all the messages that after this war, the European Union will be with us. I hope that we will be in the European Union, but also that we will stand together during Ukraine’s reconstruction,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
António Costa stressed that the European Union continues to stand firmly with Ukraine.
“We will continue working together, and the most important thing is to win this war, because international law must prevail, and to achieve your accession to the European Union. Because this is the best path for Europe’s security and for guaranteeing Ukraine’s security,” the President of the European Council said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and António Costa discussed international and domestic policy in detail. The President of the European Council is well informed about Ukraine’s most urgent defense needs, above all anti-ballistic defense and financial support for the coming months.
They also discussed how the European Union can help Ukrainian exports withstand Russian terrorist strikes on ports and agriculture. The Head of State emphasized that it is important for Europe to work together to find solutions to all these challenges.
