On December 8, Designated Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the European Union Vsevolod Chentsov presented Letters of Credence to President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
During the conversation, the parties noted the high dynamics of the Ukraine-EU relations on the basis of political association and economic integration.
“Ukraine highly appreciates the support of the EU and your personal support as the President of the European Commission, especially against the background of the difficult security situation. Confirmation of the readiness to impose tough measures to influence the aggressor in case of further escalation of tension by the Russian Federation is a powerful deterrent, " - said Vsevolod Chentsov.
The Head of the Mission of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the support of the President of the European Commission during the visit of the Prime Ministers of the Association Trio (Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia) to Brussels on November 29-20 to prepare the participation of the Ukrainian delegation chaired by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Eastern Partnership summit on December 15. Among the priorities of the Association Trio is the enhanced engagement with the EU in the spheres of green and digital transformation, connectivity, energy security, justice and home affairs, strategic communications and health.
Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the implementation of comprehensive reforms in Ukraine, reaffirmed the EU’s unwavering support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, and noted the EU's readiness to take further joint actions to strengthen energy security and increase energy efficiency.
