KYIV, February 13 /UKRINFORM/. Ukraine and the European Union are continuing organizational and technical work on preparations for the summit on February 25, and the sides have currently almost agreed on the agenda of the high-level meeting, Ukraine's representative to the EU, Kostiantyn Yeliseyev, has told a UKRINFORM reporter in Belgium.
"The holding of the summit has been agreed by the sides. The work on the preparation of technical and organizational aspects of this important event is ongoing. The agenda has almost been approved," the ambassador said.
Yeliseyev said that the parties would discuss preparations for the signing and provisional application of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, including the creation of a deep and comprehensive free trade area, visa liberalization dialogue, cooperation in a number of sectoral areas, particularly in energy and transport; the prospects of providing EU macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, and cooperation in regional and international issues.
While commenting on which documents are to be signed at the summit, Ukraine's representative to the EU said that this issue was still in the stage of approval by the parties. "The key fact for the Ukrainians side is not the signing of documents, but achieving strategic understanding of the algorithm of joint actions that will ensure the signing of the Association Agreement this November," Yeliseyev said.
