The European Union Military Delegation led by General Patrick de Rousiers, Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, arrived to Ukraine on October 9. The visit is aimed at discussion of cooperation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the European Union.
The representatives of the Military Delegation held talks with Colonel General Volodymyr Zamana, Chief of General Staff of Armed Forces of Ukraine on October 10. The parties discussed the issues of the further EU-Ukraine military cooperation.
During the meeting with Pavlo Lebedev, Minister of Defense of Ukraine, the parties discussed some issues of this cooperation.
“We’re interested in the establishment of the EU-Ukraine military political dialog at the level of Defense Ministers, especially, participation in meetings of defense ministers of the EU nations to discuss current defense issues,” stressed Pavlo Lebedev.
General Patrick de Rousiers, Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, supported the proposal of Pavlo Lebedev and noted it was current and timely.
The guests visited the Military Institute of Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University where General Patrick de Rousiers spoke before the University personnel. The EU delegation will make a visit to the National Security and Defense Council and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, too.
On October 11, they will go to Crimea to visit tactical aviation brigade, military ships, and museums.
