September 3, Representative of Ukraine to the EU Kostiantyn Yelisieiev attended the meeting of the enlarged Bureau of the European Parliament Subcommittee on Security and Defense, during which he informed the MEPs about the latest developments in the Donbas region in the context of military aggression of the Russian Federation.

The Ambassador stressed that despite the decision of the European Union to extend restrictive measures against the Russian Federation, today there is a paradoxical situation when some EU Member States are blocking the supply of personal protection equipment to Ukraine, while continue at the same time, to sale arms and dual-use goods to the aggressor. In this context, particular attention was paid to the "Mistral" contact.

According to the Chairman of the Subcommittee Anna Fotyga, in its approaches to resolving of the situation in Ukraine the EU must clearly understand that Russia is an aggressor, and Ukraine protects its territorial integrity and independence.

The parties also discussed specific measures of the EU's military, technical and financial support to Ukraine.
