October 8 Representative of Ukraine to the EU Konstiantyn Yelisieiev participated in the first meeting of the European Parliament Delegation to the Ukraine - EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.

In his speech K.Yelisieiev expressed gratitude to the MEPs for consistent support of the territorial integrity and European choice of Ukraine, which resulted in a series of recent resolutions on the situation in Ukraine and fixed by the synchronous ratification of the Association Agreement by the European Parliament and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on 16 September.

While discussing the current situation in Ukraine EP deputies were informed of numerous violations of the cease of use of force by terrorist groups in Donetsk and Lugansk regions that continue to cause the death of Ukrainian military and civilians. During the discussion, the deputies confirmed support for the peace plan of the President of Ukraine.

The Ambassador also informed the members of the European Parliament on the latest efforts of the President and the Government of Ukraine in the context of priority reforms, including presentation of the "Reform Strategy - 2020" and the adoption of anti-corruption laws by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

A number of deputies confirmed their intentions to join the EP delegation to monitor the early parliamentary elections in Ukraine on October 26

Representative of Ukraine to the EU also expressed hope that the European Parliament will take its final positive decision on the extension of the EU autonomous trade preferences for Ukraine in October.
