Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services Volodymyr Groysman held a meeting with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle on October 9, in the framework of his working visit to Brussels.
The parties discussed further coordination of actions of the EU and Ukraine to ensure the implementation of the Association Agreement, which is to start applying from November 1, 2014, and the ways of realization of the relevant action plan elaborated by the Government.
The Vice Prime Minister informed the EU side of the consistent efforts made by the Ukrainian authorities on the way of carrying out of systemic reforms, in particular presentation by President Petro Poroshenko of Reforms Strategy for 2020 and adopted recently by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine the package of anti-corruption laws. Volodymyr Groysman also noted the importance to adhere to the peace plan in the East of Ukraine, with decentralization of power as one of the key elements.
There were also held in-depth consultations with a group of experts of the European Commission responsible for preparing of the Donor conference for Ukraine in the framework of this meeting.
The parties also considered financial and humanitarian support for Ukraine, including assistance for displaced and affected citizens from the East to prepare for the winter period, as well as the EU participation in the projects of recovery of Donbas.
The EU side welcomed a mechanism of coordination of interaction in the process of preparing for the Donor conference created over the past month, and the development of a recovery plan of the country.
The meeting was also attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin.
