Today, in Brussels Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services Volodymyr Groysman met with Director of Directorate General of the European Commission on Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Claus Sorensen.
The parties considered cooperation with the EU in response to the military aggression in the East of Ukraine in order to minimise the effects of the social crisis within the region. Volodymyr Groysman informed the EU side on the measures taken by the Government to provide proper living conditions for the victims and IDPs, render medical and social support, reconstruct the infrastructure, housing and communal fund etc.
The sides agreed on joint work of experts of the EU and Ukraine to assess damages and priority measures to restore Donbas.
The Ukrainian side drew particular attention to the numerous violations by Russia of international law in the part of illegal transportation and detention of Ukrainian citizens, including children, in the territory of the Russian Federation.
The Vice Prime Minister stressed that the principal priority of Ukrainian leaders is reaching lasting peace in the East of Ukraine. Volodymyr Groysman noted that only compliance of all parties with the peace arrangements would help restore the life of Donbas.
