October 29 in the framework of his visit to Brussels, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Prodan met with Vice President of the European Commission on Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič, which takes up duties on 1 November.
The sides discussed the priority areas of cooperation between Ukraine and the new composition of the European Commission in the energy sector, including preparation for the winter period.
Ukrainian side informed about the reforms of the gas market in Ukraine in accordance with the EU energy legislation and stressed that Ukraine remains a reliable partner and transporter of natural gas to the EU member states.
The Minister briefed the Vice President of the European Commission on the proposal of Ukrainian side, aimed at resolving the situation around Russian gas supplies to Ukraine.
Maroš Šefčovič noted the important role of Ukraine in energy security of Europe and welcomed the launch of reverse natural gas supply to Ukraine from the territory of the EU Member States.
Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Y.Prodan invited M.Šefčovič to visit Ukraine.
