Ambassador of Ukraine called upon the European Union to make a decisive assessment of the terrorist act against peaceful Ukrainian citizens near Volnovakha

Representative of Ukraine to the EU Kostiantyn Yelisieiev has sent the relevant appeals to the EU leaders informing on the brutal attack near Volnovakha carried out by the Russian-backed terrorists on 13 January. In this regard, he called for immediate and absolute condemnation of this act by the EU.

"The tragedy in Volnovakha (the Donetsk Oblast) is another obvious example, when civilians, mostly women, became the terrorists’ target. Despite numerous appeals and statements from the EU, Russian-backed terrorists do not stop shelling the Ukrainian territory. The policy of appeasing the aggressor leads to more casualties," said the Ambassador of Ukraine to the EU.

"The events in Volnovakha cannot be considered otherwise than an act of terrorism. I urge the EU together with experts from the OSCE Mission to join the investigation of this terrible incident and take immediate steps to prevent such attacks. The tragedy in Volnovakha and Russia’s systematic failure to implement the Minsk Agreements should become the subject matter on the agenda of the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on 19 January, as wells as at the EU Summit on 12-13 February, where one of the key issues will be the elaboration of a strategy to strengthen the fight against terrorism," emphasized K.Yelisieiev.
