July 15, Senior Officials meeting on the Ukraine - EU visa dialogue took place in Brussels

The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine for European Integration Olena Zerkal, the EU – by the Director General DG "Migration and home affairs" Matthias Ruete.

During the meeting the Ukrainian side informed of the results as well as provided information on measures being taken to implement the recommendations of the European Commission’s Report on the implementation of the EU Visa Liberalization Action Plan for Ukraine from May 8, 2015

The EU welcomed the efforts undertaken by Ukraine since the publication of the Report and expressed hope that steps, planned by the Ukrainian side, will be implemented in time and will ensure the implementation of the remained recommendations.

During the meeting the parties also discussed the preparations for the assessment missions, planned for this autumn, to evaluate Ukraine’s progress, which should be reflected in the Report of the Commission on the implementation of the Action Plan, which would be prepared by the end of 2015.

The parties expressed their common position that the recommendations are very important for the preparation of the positive Report and for the recommendation to grant visa-free regime to the citizens of Ukraine.
