On Tuesday, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman has held a meeting with EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Günter Oettinger. The parties have agreed position on the partnership in the creation of digital community and discussed possible projects aimed at promoting cooperation in this area.
The Prime Minister has noted that Ukraine is interested in the initiative of the EU Commissioner as to the integration of Ukraine into the EU digital single market. "We are absolutely ready to act fully in sync with you towards the development of the digital economy," he stressed.
Volodymyr Groysman has pointed out that Ukraine has the great potential for development and implementation of digital technology, taking into account high level of education of Ukrainians and the quality of Ukrainian IT professionals.
"Digital economy is crucial for us today. It has a great potential. It is a matter of the present and the future," said the Prime Minister.
On the proposal of the European Commissioner, the parties have agreed to establish a working group to assess the requirements necessary for Ukraine's integration into the digital single market. The Ukraine-EU working group will start its work in September and the designed agenda may become an action plan for other Eastern Partnership countries, highlighted EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Günther Oettinger.
He also noted the potential of Ukraine and the importance of partnerships in the context of creating a digital community with the EU.
The Prime Minister has outlined the possible projects of implementation of digital cooperation, particularly in the areas of e-commerce, e-customs, e-health. Among the priorities of the Government – e-governance and internal reform. "Changing the system of governance with the use of new technologies is a priority for us. It is efficient, transparent, minimizes human intervention in the process of governance and is an anti-corruption step," he pointed out.
