The scope of cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union in all areas, including macro-financial assistance, should be in line with the far-reaching reform agenda. This issue was discussed during a meeting of Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker.
The parties agreed that the economic development being demonstrated by Ukraine requires a change of the format of cooperation in the direction towards its long-term sustainability. At the same time, the implementation of the EU- Ukraine Association Agreement is unwavering benchmark and foundation of its work.
"Ukraine continues the ambitious reform program aimed to accelerate economic growth and increase investment in the economy. The support of the European Union of Ukraine is of utmost importance for us, and not only at the bilateral level. We also count on supporting our initiatives at the level of the G7 countries", the Head of Government stressed.
The sides also touched upon security issues, preservation of the EU sanction policy against Russia as an aggressor stat to the full implementation of the Minsk agreements, as well as the development of a common position on energy issues in view of the prospects for the construction of the Russian pipeline Nord Stream 2.
