On June 19-23, the Director of State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine Roman Truba visited the EU institutions for the first time.
In the course of meetings with the representatives of the EEAS, the European Commission, MEPs, as well as the EU member states, R.Truba presented the newly created state body, told about the progress of competitions on the positions of investigators and to the working units. The Director of the SBI stressed that the first investigations of the Bureau should begin in September 2018.
The parties discussed the prospects of SBI cooperation with the EU institutions and member-states.
The EU side positively evaluated the creation of the Bureau, in particular, in the context of continuing Ukraine's commitments under the Visa Liberalization Action Plan, which is also extremely important within the framework of so-called preventive mechanism.
Representatives of the EU Institutions appreciated Ukraine’s efforts in the implementation of reforms in the law-enforcement sector and confirmed their readiness to provide further support.
