On 24 November 2019, at the Cathedral of St. Archangel Michael in the city of Genk Ukrainian community in Belgium, clergy, Belgians and Ukrainian diplomats commemorated the memory of the millions of Ukrainians who were brutally killed by the Soviet regime during the 1932-1933 Holodomor in Ukraine.
Metropolitan of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Oleksandr Drabinko, priest of Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Genk Vitaliy Derevianka, Representative of Ukraine to the EU Mykola Tochytskyi and Honorable Consul of Ukraine in the province of Limburg Kris Beckers together with the participants of the prayer service laid flowers at the 1932-1933 Holodomor monument and paid tribute to the innocent victims with a minute of silence.
We are grateful to everyone who preserves the memory of this horrific page in Ukraine’s history, promotes restoration of historical justice and dissemination of information about the terrible crimes of the Stalinist regime so that they can never be repeated.
