On 24 November 2019, a prayerful commemoration of the victims of Holodomor-Genocide of 1932-1933 in Ukraine took place in St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral in Brussels.
Priest of the St. Volodymyr parish of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Brussels Rev. Nazar Muhailjk, clergy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Belgium, Metropolitan of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Oleksandr Drabinko, representatives of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU, Embassy of Ukraine in Belgium, Mission of Ukraine to NATO, diplomatic corps, Belgians and Ukrainian community paid tribute to the millions of Ukrainians killed by the Stalin-orchestrated artificial famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine.
“After the terrible tragedy of the Holodomor, as of now Ukraine is again fighting against the hybrid Russian aggression in Crimea and Donbas. We must preserve the memory about the horrific crimes of the Soviet regime in order to prevent them to be repeated” – underlined Head of Ukraine’s Mission to the EU Mykola Tochytskyi addressing the participants of the prayerful commemoration.
We express our profound gratitude to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Brussels, in particular to the priest of the St. Volodymyr parish of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Rev Nazar Muhailjk, and clergy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Belgium, for organizing this event.
We are also grateful to everyone who joined us at the commemoration prayer and honored the memory of the innocent victims of the Holodomor. We remember.
