The delegation took part in the 119/120 session of the Council of customs cooperation of the WCO.

The Chairman of the Customs Service of Ukraine had a meeting with WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya.

The WCO positively assessed the work Ukraine has undertaken towards modernization of the customs authorities. The WCO also welcomed the adoption of a new Customs Code of Ukraine noting the efforts done to implement the WCO standards.

In Brussels Igor Kaletnik, Chairman of the Customs Service of Ukraine, had also a meeting at DG TAXUD of the European Commission. He handed a letter of First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine V.Khoroshkovskiy addressed to Commissioner A.Semeta on approval of the Framework Strategy of the Customs Cooperation between Ukraine and the EU. The parties agreed to continue further cooperation in order to implement the Strategy priorities and form a respective joint Working Group.

During the meetings the parties noted the role of the EUBAM mission and stressed on the importance of further Ukraine-EU dialogue on technical assistance, improvement of border infrastructure and management.

Importance of further cooperation with the OLAF towards fight against cigarettes smuggling and information exchanges was also stressed upon.
