Valeriy Khoroshkovskiy stressed that Ukraine had a political will to build its future together with the EU. First Vice Prime Minister agreed with a view voiced during the round table on necessity to conclude the Association Agremeent as soon as possible. “We have to find a solution, because our strategy is the same: we want to become members of the European family. This is my own goal and the goal of the contry”, he said.
According to the governmental official, priorities of Ukraine-EU relations at this stage are free and democratic elections, carrying out reforms to improve the business and investment climate, and progress in the European integration. V.Khoroshkovskiy admitted that the leadership of Ukraine was aware of the fact that these priorities were interconnected.
First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine assured the participants that Ukraine would make an every effort for year 2012 to bring results in the Ukraine-EU relations, and informed in particular about the decision to strengthen the administrative capacities of the Ukrainian side in coordination of the process of the European integration and preparation of the Association agreement to conclusion.
The round table “Relations Ukraine-EU: the road ahead” was organized by Brussels European Policy Center with support of the Petro Poroshenko Foundation. From Ukrainian side in the debates participated also Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council A.Klyuev, Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine P.Poroshenko, leader of the “Narodniy Rukh Ukrainy” party B.Tarasiuk. The EU side was represented by Commissioner for Enlargement and ENP S.Fule, Ministers of for Foreign Affairs C.Bildt and Lithuania A.Azubalis, MEP Libor Roucek.
While in Brussels, V.Khoroshkovskiy had a number of bilateral meeting and gave an interview to “Bloomberg”.
