Valeriy Khoroshkovksiy discussed with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and ENP Stefan Fule a number of issues related to internal political situation in Ukraine in the context of preparation for the parliamentary elections in October 2012, prospects for concluding the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement as well as progress in fulfilling the visa liberalization Action Plan. The interlocutors confirmed the readiness of the sides to initial the Association agreement and start the process of preparing the document for the signing.
V.Khoroshkovskiy outlined the key priorities of his work on the post of the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine as coordinator of the European integration policy of Ukraine. He confirmed the readiness of the Government of Ukraine to continue implementing internal political, social and economic reforms as well as pursue adaptation of the national legislation to provide for a full-fledged approximation of Ukraine to the norms and standards of the EU.
They had an exchange of views on improving Ukraine’s efficiency in using financial and technical assistance of the European Union, in particular through reforming of the system of state finances management.
While in Brussels, First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine also met with Minister for Foreign affairs of Sweden and Lithuania C.Bildt and A.Azubalis, as well as with MEP P.Kowal. During the meetings V.Khoroshkovskiy expressed a hope for further support by Sweden, Lithuania and the European Parliament of the European aspirations of Ukraine and thanked for their constructive position in concluding the Association agreement and in Ukraine-EU visa free dialogue.
The meetings were held within V.Khoroshkovskiy’s visit to Brussels to take part in the round table discussion “Relations Ukraine-EU: the road ahead”.
