Ukrainian pianist Dmtro Sukhovienko launched a series of classical music concerts to be held in the European Parliament during 2012-2013.
Virtuoso’s repertoire included pieces by V.Sylvestrov, J.Haydn, R.Schubert.
The idea to launch an initiative to support and raise profile of classical music in the European Parliament belongs to the EP informal intergroup for classical music, and among them – MEP Kristiina Ojuland, who inaugurated the event on the 3rd of October.
The organizers were honoured to have Ukrainian pianist virtuoso Dmytro Sukhovienko to start the series of concerts in the European Parliament, MEP Ojuland noted.
Nadiya Tsok, Deputy Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU, thanked the organizers for the brilliant idea to invite a Ukrainian pianist to perform and expressed a hope to see on the EP stage as well as on other European stage more and more Ukrainian artists.
As it was noted Як зазначаютьорганізатори, Ukrainian Sukhovienko so far is the only European pianist having performed at the European Parliament.
The event was hosted by MEP I.Tarand and supported by Ukraine-EU Business Council.
