January 30, 2013 Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul visited Brussels with the first official visit where he held a number of meetings at the European Commission and the European Parliament.

During a meeting with the European Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn sides exchanged views on topical issues of the Ukraine-EU dialogue, including in the context of regional cooperation. Emphasis was made on strengthening the ties between regions of the EU and Ukraine, as well as the use of the best European practices in the practice of regional development in Ukraine.

Active involvement of the Parliament in the bilateral dialogue between Ukraine and the EU was discussed at the meetings with Vice-President of the European Parliament Alejo Vidal Quadras and co-head of EU – Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Pawel Kowal.

During his visit to Brussels O.Vilkul took part in parliamentary hearings devoted to the sustainable development priorities of Dnipropetrovsk region. Whileaddressing the participants, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul stressed the importance of the regional component of European integration in Ukraine.

O.Vilkul also visited the exhibition "Petrikivka" held at the European Parliament in Brussels on January 28 - February 1, 2013.
