The implementation of the provisions of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement as well as the course towards deepening of European integration have become  key guidelines for the Government and an integral part of reforms in Ukraine. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman issued this statement during a meeting with President of the European Council Donald Tusk. The meeting was held as the part of the Prime Minister’s working visit to Brussels.

Volodymyr Groysman noted that the Government agenda of reforms was and remains very ambitious. A large part of this plan is already being implemented. Innovations are introduced in education, medicine, and  pension systems. The issues at stake are attracting investment in the public sector, modernizing the system of state property management, and continuing decentralization in the direction of granting more powers to the regions.

The anti-corruption initiatives are also on the agenda, notably the adoption and implementation of the draft law on the Anticorruption Court.

"We also drew attention to the fact that systemic steps aimed to eradicate corruption have already been taken, such as the successful implementation of Prozorro electronic procurement system, the reform of the energy market, and significant changes in the banking sector. They have greatly narrowed the field for corruption ", the Prime Minister stressed.

He stressed that today there is no reason to believe Ukraine has slowed the reform process. " We will present achievements in detail during the Copenhagen conference in June", the Head of Government claimed.

During the talks the parties agreed that today it is possible to step up  the dialogue with the European Union towards concrete plans for enhanced cooperation in the customs, energy, digital spheres, as well as in the area of justice and home affairs. According to the Prime Minister, this will create the preconditions for ensuring security at the EU's external borders.

The sides also touched upon an issue relating to the fourth Macro-Financial Assistance programme for Ukraine for 2018-2019 and the priorities of the energy sector reform. Kyiv notes solidarity in energy issues and  is interested to ensure that cooperation in this area  is being developed on mutually beneficial terms, the Prime Minister emphasized. First of all, an issue at stake is an adequate and fair assessment of the Nord Stream 2 project, an assessment of Gazprom's actions on abusing  monopoly regulations and creation of opportunities for the joint development of the Ukrainian gas transmission system, which proved its reliability to ensure uninterrupted  gas transit gas amid difficult conditions.

A special emphasis was placed on EU support of positions and initiatives of Ukraine during the G7 summit, which will be held in early June in Charlevoix, Canada.
