Ukrainian delegation took part in the second Eastern Partnership Transport Panel meeting

On 21 February 2012 in Brussels Representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, State Railway Administration of Ukraine (Ukrzaliznytsia), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine took part in the second Eastern Partnership Transport Panel meeting.

The meeting was focused on the draft network for the Eastern Partnership region with a view to defining connections between the TEN-T and Eastern Partnership countries as well as on the exploring of the priorities in infrastructure improvements needed for better connecting the Eastern Partnership countries with the EU. The Ukrainian delegation gave a presentation on the development of Transport Network of Ukraine and confirmed once more the importance of giving a proper weight to the Pan-European transport corridors of 1990’s in the European transport network updating.

Deliberating on the railway interaction the State Railway Administration of Ukraine called for further promoting by the EU side the CIM/SMGS consignment note elaborated within the OSJD-OTIF framework in order to simplify customs formalities and introduce a saving in time and money for customers and carriers.

On February 22 the Ukrainian delegation, EC and EIB continued discussing possible connections between the TEN-T and transport network of Ukraine as well as infrastructure investment priorities.
